Roll the dice. Find a bead of the corresponding shape and color. Thread the bead onto your caterpillar. Pass along the dice. Repeat.
Our new favorite toddler game – Colorful Caterpillars: A Color and Shapes Matching Game – is as simple as could be, but has already provided us with hours of fun. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll let these photos tell you just how much Beach Girl loves “The Caterpillar Game”:
I feel like I need to offer a disclaimer that this game isn’t actually as exhilarating for adults as these photos might have you believe. It really is as simple as the directions I outlined above. But, if you’re a preschooler or if you love watching one get so incredibly excited, then this is the game for you!
This game has been a fun way for us to practice things like rolling a dice, taking turns, and winning/losing well. And, it teaches shapes, colors, and how to thread a bead onto a string.
When I’ve had my fill of playing but Beach Girl wants to continue, she also can play with the beads and caterpillars on her own or I set her up with one “dressed” caterpillar and she builds her own with matching beads to practice beginning patterns.
Really, this game’s fun level knows no limits if you’re a preschooler!

Just so you know, if you buy the game through the link above, you’ll be helping to support stayatbeachmom.com. I didn’t receive any compensation for writing this review and there’s no way I could get Beach Girl to fake enthusiasm like this! I only review products we really love.
